Environmental Education

Education is one of the pillars of A Rocha’s work in Canada. Through hands-on learning, our education programs foster a sense of wonder in the created world and for the Creator Himself. Our Field Study Centres offer year-round environmental education opportunities for school groups. During the summer we run day camps and partner with Christian camps across the country, equipping them to run their own creation-care activities.

Over 10,000 children and youth engage every year in our various environmental education programs across Canada.  A Rocha’s environmental education curriculum is available to the public. These materials are in use by churches and other community groups. Contact us to find out more about our education resources and to receive materials, or to book your group.

Summer Day Camps

Held in Surrey, BC, at the Brooksdale Environmental Centre and in Winnipeg, Manitoba, A Rocha’s day camps connect kids directly with creation.  A full week of games, stories, crafts, pond-dipping and singing in the great outdoors allows children to explore the created world in a safe and wonder-filled environment.  Thanks to generous funding from our partners our camps are kept at very affordable rates.  For more information, email us kids@arocha.ca or check out schedules on our events page of this website.

Fun on the Farm

Every second Saturday the A Rocha Brooksdale Environmental Centre plays host to a troop of kids and their families who come to collect eggs, plant gardens, make bread, and explore creation. Some are refugee families just finding their footing in Canada, others are single parent families living on low income—all are looking for some good ol’ fun on a farm! Run in partnership with World Vision, A Rocha’s Fun on the Farm project is entering its second season of interactive and experiential learning, opening the world of creation and sustainable agriculture to those who might otherwise not be able to enjoy it.

School Groups

Field trips are a key component of A Rocha’s environmental education program. Our curriculum is tied to the Ministry of Education science learning outcomes and is delivered through hands-on experience.  Our educators come with extensive teaching experience and are passionate about opening windows of wonder for children as they get up close and personal with creation.  For more information or to book a field trip for your school contact us at canada.kids@arocha.ca. Both our Centres, located in BC and MB, host school groups year round.
